dogwood is Chloé Perrault & Ellorie McKnight

dogwood is the sound of voices in harmony, accompanied by the pulling and strumming of strings. Banjo, cello, ukulele, guitar, viola. Previously making up part of the Boys of Bytown, dogwood was created in Ottawa during the cold winter of 2012-2013.  The spring brought with it individual dreams to be chased and adventures to be lived.  It would be nearly a year after the project's creation until dogwood's halves reconvened, this time six thousand kilometres further west.

On the edge of the Pacific, the end of February brings with it the rare snowfall, crisp sunny mornings, cold dreary days, and tiny crocuses sprouting on front lawns. Inspired by sweet love, heartbreak, desire, confusion, friendship, dreams, wanderlust, trust, and the rawness and beauty of nature, dogwood found itself once again creating. In early march 2014 as spring came to the coast, the band recorded in a great little studio on East Hastings. Analog, off the floor, with a few old mics. In may 2014, dogwood released its first full length album, entitled 'crows'.

Again, the spring brought with it individual dreams to be chased and adventures to be lived.Ellorie spent the summer of 2014 out frolicking in the alaskan wilds attempting to conduct science while Chloé raised her very own hens and vegetables in the ontarian countryside. In the fall, Ellorie settled out west, and Chloé stayed out east. But, having had practice with epic cross-country get-togethers, dogwood once again reconvened in december 2014 to play an official cd release @ Pressed café in ottawa. As usual, our time together was lovely and too short.

Ellorie is now back up north, again attempting to conduct science, while Chloé is in ontario preparing for spring, gardening, and vermi-composting. Again separated by many miles, dogwood isn't currently playing any shows. However, we're scheming of our next epic get-together. And we both have a hunch it'll be up in the Yukon.
